Logitech Illuminated Keyboard.....WOW!

I finally decided to try a new keyboard out. I once had an illuminated Firefly I believe it was called. Nice but one of the keys (N) gave out one day and it became a pain to use.

I bought a Logitech Illuminated board from Egghead last week. As usual EH had it UPS to me in 2 days. They are great people!
This key board is the best keyboard I have ever owned or used!
It has wonderful keys that make very little sound and have a really nice quality feel to them.
This board is what, ½ inch thick at most? I love the lite up characters for typing in the dark.
Only the characters show, where the old Firefly had the entire keys glowing.

I can now understand why this board got so many good reviews.
At $73 it is not a cheapie, but since all the time spent sitting in front of a computer involves the use of a key board for most of that time, it is money well spent IMHO........ pg

I heard that the key mechanism is similar to those of Laptop.

Have you game w/ it yet? How's the response??

Also, those features in the Orange text. The F1-12 keys. DO you need to install software to access the features?

Wonder how it compares to the Saitek Eclipse II.

The orange keys do not need software installed to function.
The keyboard out of the box requires you to hold down an FN key while selecting one of the orange F1-12 keys to obtain the options at the top of the keys.
The functions of F1 thru F12 only require you to press the key.

This is a bit of a pain for me so I changed that by using the optional setting.
Now all I do is press F1 to get straight to my home page. No need to hold down the FN key.
But...... if I need to access any of the F1 thru F12 keys, I do have to hold down FN to connect.

Has to press Fn... That's a bit inconvenient.

I rrrly like the idea and profile, but the lack of dedicated Play/stop/media player and calculator compared to the WAVE, which I have right now. It's funny, at 1st I though the dedicated calculator key was near useless for me but Im actually using it as much as the vol key now.

As it comes right out of the box you have to press and hold the FN key.
There is an option to switch the key functions. I switched mine so now to open the calculator I just tap the F7 key and the calculator opens.
If I need the native function of the F7, then yes, I have to press and hold the FN key and tap F7 at the same time.

Love it!

I use the Belkin TE PAD for gaming so can't rate this on a gameing keyboard but it seems like it would be alright. Love the way it looks and feels. Great Keyboard IMO.
