Look who's having a birthday!

Love him or hate him, today is his birthday. Wonder where we'd be today without his foresight.

I wonder why they have those high resolution pictures of him on that page? Who would want to look at him that closely? He's not what I would call an attractive person.

I was wondering the exact same thing. I think he'd look better if he wore contacts instead of glasses, but he probably can't afford any.........

Frugal? Have you seen his house? Or should I say mansion? It's huge...40,000 square feet under roof and cost over 50 million! And I hear he owns a lot of exotic european supercars too.

Actually, Bill Gates gives away tons of money every year. But he has one main condition, it must be for something that is improving the world. He also contributes a lot of money to scholarship funds to help kids go to college.

And he spends mega bucks to landscaping companies every year to keep his yard in tp condition. A guy I know really well, his friend, is a landscaping contractor working for him.

Well, remember that weather you hate him or love him, he did start from scratch - he didn't inherit all this wealth from no skill at all. To simply tell you the truth, I dislike "corporate monopoly" in general, but that's inevitable when it comes to a big company - people start to hate them for being too original. Though I made fun of Gates for a while, I actually revere him as a man who worked hard to get what he earned.

If i had that much money i would share the majority of all my money to help charity's and animal shelters. Yeah buying a nice house, cool cars and some fun toys can make ya happy, but all that extra money could do so much good for people. I think i would open up a large factory of some sort, go around San Fran or some city finding homeless people, show em etc, buy them a little house or something and let them work for me to get their lives back together.

Heh i would also wana walk down the street and randomly give away cars to random people, that would be really fun. Or drop 100's on the ground everywhere.

The entire reason he's that rich is because he's frugal! It's not too often that rich people are frivilous spenders. My grandfather has a decent penny saved up, but I can't get him to spend a dime on fixing his house!

Not sure if he still has it, but the original plans for his "house" included a salmon or trout hatchery (can't remember which).

He's rich because he's worked his head off and succeeded.

That's not quite true. Gates and partners bought DOS from another programmer and the idea for Windows came from a Xerox copy machine OS (the Xerox Star) and the Apple Lisa OS. He didn't really "start from scratch."

I think he failed because his head is still on, but maybe that picture was taken before he did that. When exactly did he do that?
