monitor pink and smeared...

NEC Accusync120 21" CRT - have tried two different cards
(first ATI All-in-Wonder 8500; swapped it back to my old
Geforce2MX )
Soyo KT333; 1.3Ghz T-bird; 256m Corsair DDR; Win98SE.

Have aquired the latest drivers for the cards, the monitor, DX8.1,
and tried another monitor. (The problem only occurs on the
NEC Accusync.)
The screen will get fuzzy, with a pink hue, for a minute of two,
then goes almost totally pink except for a strip down the left
side; and intensity drops. Tried degaussing (no effect), and there
are no magnetic or electrical fields within three feet. Sometimes
I can reboot and everything'll be o.k. for a little while; most times
it just boots back up all PINK and SMEARED...
(monitor is still under warranty, but I'm hoping I don't hafta
return it.... whatta hassle...)
One more quick question - why does ATI print on the box my
A-I-W 8500 came in that supported OS'es are WIn XP,Me,2K,
98SE, and 98 ; however when you go to the web site to
check for updated drivers, they say WIN98 and SE aren't
supported???

Try the mon on another box. That should narrow it down. My instinks say the mon is dying.

It's the 8500DV that's not supported in 98.
