Driver for Mustek scanner

My new computer will have Windows XP Pro. installed on it. I currently have a Mustek 1200 ED scanner. I have searched the Mustek site for XP drivers, but can not find any. However it says their site was updated as of JAN. 2002. I tried e-mailing them and asking if there was a driver for their 1200 ED scanner that would work with XP, but all my e-mails come back. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, MIke

If there is no XP driver, you could try the 2K driver. Do a restore point before installing just in case it has bad effects on the system.

Try what Hal says, but I'm betting you will be buying a new scanner.

Ah! Good ol' mustek. the bain of my driver life.

I've been thru no less than 8 differnt drivers for the same scanner as you, i don't even know which is the right install file any more.

What i can tell you however, is that the version i finished up with, claiming to be 98/ME drivers worked fine under XP for the brief period for which i had it installed. ( I hate it with a vengeance and removed it sharpish, what a waste of £150)

Can't tall u much bout it, but maybe the attached picture will be or help.

Try drvier guide sites as opposed to the mustek site, which is very poor.

My scanner came OEM with a prebuilt pc for my sister, and i nabbed her scanner.

Once u get drivers that can communicate it seems fine.

Hope you fix it

Thanks everyone for your replies. I did more searching on the Mustek site and found the following link :
http://www.mustek.com/download/driv_...nglish-xp.html
It provides the info that Marlin's site did, but it also tells you which scanners are supported by the Windows XP tool. It looks like the 1200ED will only work by editing the registry, loading the Windows 2000 driver, and then changing the registry back.
THanks again, everyone, Mike

I have a Mustek 1200 USB scanner and all I can say is good luck. I only use mine in win98, and I have tried win2k driver, edited the registry and still cant get it to work, it doesnt bother me that much though because the scanner along with my Lexmark printer were free from earthlink for subscribing to there service for only 3 months.
