Squeezing the USR 2977

I have recently upgraded to the USR 2977 modem without a gripe. Strong, consistent connections. I always connect at 50666 bps. Fine! Can I tweak this to get to 53333? Would it make that much difference? (especially in on-line gaming)?

I've heard of registry tweaks to improve performance. True? Where?

There is a at command to type in that will tell it to connect only at a certain range or at a specific speed. Wether this will get you the speed you want or trying connections endlessly, I do not know.
If I find the link for the commands I will paste it.

Current AT command

This is my current command line. Hasn't offered any increased performance.

AT&F1&K3S15=2S11=38S27=16S0=0

Not real clear on what these #'s represent, but I am currently searching more info. I also tried "+MS=V90", but my modem wouldn't connect.

Any other Modem Professionals? SARGE!

Nope, leave it be. Once connected, USR modems retrain up and down as needed to compensate for varying line conditions. Online gaming will actually get WORSE if you force a higher speed. The ONLY time I ever use a string modifier on a USR is to disable V.90 on garbage lines, sometimes they will drive you nuts trying to lock onto V.90 on lines that just can't support it. If you are hooking up at 50666, you have an excellent phone line and you should be very happy just leaving it alone and letting it keep itself sorted out.

Hmmm, that's what I figured. I guess I should be happy with what I have. I suppose the 2,667 extra bps wouldn't make that much of a difference.

Thanks
