a couple of modem questions

I have several question

1. Does anyone know of a very cheap USB external ADSL modem that has RJ-45 output (i have one with RJ-11).

2. Same as the above question except that a very cheap router+ADSL modem

3. Do the DSL PCI card have RJ-45 output on it so it can be hooked up to a hub or router.

Whatever you get make sure (ahead of time) it's compatible with your provider.

1. Nope - they are either USB or RJ-45, I haven't seen dual mode ADSL modems, just cable modems.

2. Yes, you can buy an ADSL router that has both the modem and routing functions, they are not cheap.

3. No.

Vigors are only sold in the UK to the best of my knowledge.

To the folks in the US, let me make one point - if you are ordering DSL or cable broadband and even THINK you might want to network it to more than one computer now or in the future, INSIST on an external RJ-45 Ethernet modem when you place the order, this will avoid headaches later. If you order SBC ADSL, their current self-install kits have an Efficient 5360 external Ethernet modem and a D-Link PCI NIC in them.
