no video on 1st boot

System I have been having a lot of problems with lately now has developed another situation.

When you first turn it on after it has been off for 5 minutes there is no video. If you turn if off and back on or hit reset it works fine. It will boot up immediately if you do a shut down and then turn it right back on but if it sets, it has to be reset.

I have swapped out the video card and checked all the connections without any difference. What else should I be looking at?

Do you have another power supply to try out?

Out of curiosity, did you try the old one again? Although rare, even quality PSs have defects.

No, I am looking for something else it might be before I start swapping parts that I have already swapped trying to solve the first problem. It's a long story, but the other problem required a new processor to solve.

What I probably would try would be

1) what you already did,
2) try the monitor and cable on another machine,
3) try the vid card in another machine,
4) swap PSs,
5) swap motherboards
