A New Printer And/Or Scanner

I'm thinking about gettign rid of my printer (Cannon BJC 1000) and Scanner (Agfa SnapScan).

Then i'm wanting to get a new printer but don't know what i should be looking for. If this helps, i would mainly use it for printing out large scale pictures (colour and black and white) and printing out programing code.

I'm thinking about buying a new scanner just mainly for scanning in photographs, so what should i be looking for

Ross!

Ps. I'm looking for specs, not actual products (if you get my drift)

I would get a 900 series HP Deskjet for a printer, they are reliable and print very nice quality. I know you don't want actual product recommendations, but this is the easiest way to describe it - Canon, Lexmark, and Epson are popular but I just don't care for them. Go with the model that has the features you need and fits your budget. For a scanner, get a USB model that fits your budget and has once again the features that you need. HP is a good one here too, but there are several other brands that will do just as well.

Generally you get what you pay for if you stick with reputable brands.
