Radeon 7000 (hey shut up!)
I have noticed that you can get a radeon 7000 on ebay for like ten bucks! I'm used to this 450mhz laptop, so anything will be an upgrade. The desktop im putting together is a 2.4ghz PIV, and has integrated graphics (Intel D845gebv2), would the 7000 be much of an upgrade from the onboard stuff or should i just save my money for a 9000 series card?

It depends on two things. How much money you plan to spend on the system and what you'll use it for.
Will you be playing games at all? If so, lightly or heavily. Any other graphics intensive uses like CAD drawing or video editing? Or just light home use and internet surfing?

7000 worked fine for me, but then I don't do any gaming or CAD work. I somehow blew the card, or it simply went bad and I replaced it with a 7500 as Newegg didn't have 7000 in stock. They both do a excellent job for what I do which is surf the net and applications such as Quicken, Invoice Master and Excel.

never used that mb,i would try the intergrated,if it isn't satisfactory then consider changing.the ati 7000 works well for me for general use no hard gaming etc.

If you set the onboard graphics cache to 8mb in the bios, the onboard graphics will perform on a par with a 7000. That "Intel Extreme Graphics" is one of the better onboard graphics chips out there, I'd place it close to an original NForce. It does everything quite well except heavy gaming. Save your money and try the onboard.

Ok cool, i plan on doing quite a bit of gaming, and some video editing, so i'll just deal with the onboard, and save up and get a 9000 series card, Thanks everyone again!

Good plan - that's why I like building with the 845GE boards - save some cash right off the bat and use the onboard graphics, then upgrade later when needed. I only have one customer that's contemplating a card right now, because he's catching the gaming bug.

would i be able to set my onboard graphic's cache to 8mb. if so how would i do it and how much of a performance increase would there be?

If you are referring to the system in your signature, nope. I was talking only about the Intel 845G/GE onboard graphics.
Sorry to say, but there really isn't anything you can do to make that Pro Savage any better, it's not even close to a gaming chip. Last one I ran a 3D Mark 2001 on scored under 1000 with an Athlon 1600+ in it.

i know that every thing else in my computer is good but i always feel cheated when it comes to my mobo. are my feelings right? i havent had any gaming problems yet, except for some openGL games. would it be fine if i were to get a new graphics card or should i look for a new mobo?
not too sure about my ram either. but like i said i havent really had any problems.
