Post your system specs and if this is a brand new computer or an existing one. Is it a home built or store bought name brand.

Is it on a network?

What OS are you trying to install?

The hard drive is out of an old dell computer that I'm trying to get going for my daughter. It is running Win NT. I got the machine from continnental airlines when they upgraded. I tried to remove the drive and place it in my main computer to do the formatting. That machine is a home built: AMD Ath xp 2000+ running win xp.

Put Delpart on a boot floppy and use that to remove all the partitions. Then fdisk and format will work.
