split up the modding forums

We should have seperate forums for general modding/cooling, project logs, guides and disaster mods. Bit-tech has such a system on their forums and it is alot more organised.

There is also would be a counter argument that the front page would become more cluttered, too much of the site being dedicated to modding, more space taken up, harder to navigate etc.

You could also split up the Drives and Storage forum, but that would create a mess, its the same with modding.

I disagree. The modding forum is in the middle when it comes to attention and posts, so there is no reason to split it up. If there were so many posts that it was hard to keep up, maybe you would have a point, but the modding forum is not there yet.

Keep in mind that this is a general PC website, not a site devoted just to modding. For that reason, we don't need to be like other, more focused sites just for the sake of imitating them.

You could make sub-forums, like the archives section to reduce clutter on the front page. We could also have seperate amd and inetl forums as well, so all processor flame wars would remain in the general section.

That's been recommended and debated quite a bit and the managerial consensus is to keep things the way they are to prevent just what you have suggested will happen - flame wars. They aren't tolerated here in any way, shape or form. Everybody's entitled to their likes, dislikes and opinions, but flaming someone else for theirs is outside the forum rules.

This is not primarily a modding site anyway. I think it's fine like it is.

Bit-tech is a case mod oriented community, thus it gets a lot of traffic related to modding. The one forum here doesn't get the same amount of activity that they do over there.

Thus, as of now, only one modding is needed.
