mini-site for freeware?

would it be possible to setup a site within the PCmech domain, where we could link to a page or mini-site that would have a collection of the best current freeware(like spybot adaware etc) and maybe a short review about the programs, usefull tips, and links to the best place to get it from?
I feel this would be a great help for newbies because there is so much good stuff and junk around.
I may even do it myself thru a geocities or sommin, unless it has been done already?
The reason i would like to see it thru PCmech is because it is difficult to trust this freeware/reviews and if it was moderated/updated by one of you guys it would be a more reliable source to get it from.

We have a software review forum, with specific guidelines for reviewing software. Nobody seems to care enough to write proper reviews, any takers?

i understand what your saying GLC, but rather than a forum type format maybe just a couple of PCmech webpages with simple graphics, links and info?
saves trawling thru loads of posts/threads and everything is in one place.
I think simplicity is the key especially for newbies
I always seem to have trouble with forum search options.
i might do a test page if i get time to explain futher.
Just an idea anyway

If you are volunteering to do this, contact Drisley or Bryris.

It's a lot of work to keep abreast of all of the freeware program updates.

thanks whatthis, I may need your help.
FF, agree yes would be a lot to keep on top of, but i was thinking more on the security side of freeware as there seems to be a lot of anti-spyware/adware programs etc coming out, but i only use the big 3-4 as they are the only ones i trust.
the big freeware list you guys did a while back had stuff i dont even know what they do or are for in it.
However after seeing this
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html
I may have bitten off more than i can chew :/
we'll see

Not to mention other lists like this: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=119821

(Although IMO they are not as good as majorgeeks, since they only provide links, no file sizes etc). I have to say it would be good to have a proper organised list, with short descriptions etc. And maybe ratings etc.
