suggestion

I would like it if you could make it so that you can close the post if you created it also if we could make it so someone couldn't go to a thread if the maker of the thread made it so they couldn't the first one would've been cool on this thread as for the kicking people out of a thread I have no example of where it would be good but some people could use it some how I bet

Can you clarify your post? I'm confused - you would like a way for a normal member to close their own thread?

they have already decided against deleting posts, if you search back far enough, you will see that.

as far as not letting people respond to a thread, doesn't that completely go against the idea of a forum, where everybody has an oppurtunity to give an opinion? you can just ignore a post if you don't want to read it, but most of the people on here are very knowledgeable, i can't see the point of not letting them post.

Conclusion

If you do not agree to these rules, you're free to no longer visit the PC Mechanic forums. If you do not like these rules, please do not register an account; it will be better for all parties involved. Remember: these are private forums and, by signing up, you agree to abide by these rules. We reserve the right to ban any user on our forums. That said, the entire point of these rules is to help provide a good, informative atmosphere for all members. We're not here to be drill sargeants or get off on an ego trip. Our mods have one job and that is to keep the peace and allow people who truly want to dicuss the arena of personal computing or gain technical support to do so.
Moderators keep the peace and perform housecleaning when necessary. That's too much power for every user to have, and things would get out of hand fast because of differing opinions on the way things are run.

Everybody has the chance to speak their piece, everybody can contribute. If there's a problem, simply report the post and one of the mods will take care of it when they're online. There's usually at least one mod at any one time that's browsing the forums, so that isn't a problem.

yeah and debate threads would just get out of hand... i can just see the post maker being a fan of amd or something and anyone who posts a negative comment about amd gets blocked from the thread.... It would kinda like giving moderation privalages to someone.

It would be nice if we normal members could move posts (or can we?). I sometimes start a thread in the wrong forum and wish I could move it. Yeah, but close and blocking is too much.

We mods move threads to the appropriate forum if they are in the wrong place. Don't worry, we've got it covered
