Why can't I say "*******"
The above word was typed "Acrones" with the last "e" being an "i". The board automatically substitutes "*******" for it. I noticed this in a post I did recommending partitioning utilities. I mentioned both PM and the one whose name cannot be uttered here. I also searched for the offending word on the forum and in all the posts returned, "Acrones" was deleted and "*******" substituted. Is there some reason for this??

Yeah, I think glc doesn't like the Acronís program.
Actually haven't a clue why it is a banned word. I thought that maybe because it was a cuss word in another language but maybe not. You can edit the list of banned words or phrases in Vbulletin though.

That particular brand of product was put on the blocked list a while back. It may be time to reinstate it now. I'll bring it to glc's attention.

Yes actually we've had so much spam on this product that the the word was moved into the banned list. It's ok to have a decent product, but if PC Help boards keep getting spammed like we have been, there is no choice but to remove the word.

We had an individual - and we don't know whether he works for Acronis or not - who was spamming the board every chance he got hyping Acronis products (thereby violating the forum rules even after repeated requests and warnings to stop). We banned him, but apparently he must have an unlimited number of e-mail addresses, so he kept registering new accounts and doing the same old thing. We had no choice but to add Acronis to the censor list. He apparently gave up, but if he comes back and starts doing it again, we will have to censor it again. I personally use and like their products, it had nothing to do with the product itself.

Under the circumstances, I don't blame you. I like their products too, but if your getting spammed, you really have no choice.
