PCMech yealy low-cost option

Besides signing on with the current plans which gives a lot of freebies, is PCMech willing to consider an option where forumers like me can sign on for a year at a lower cost (say, 30USD) which is more of like a donation for the good support that his site gives ?

I don't really expect any goodies for such a small amount (maybe simple things like change avatar, flag, etc) but neither would I like to plonk a few hundred dollars or monthly cost for the benefits which I don't really need.

I thought there was such a option some years back but don't seem to find it anymore.

There actually is something set up here in the forum (if I recall), under the user profile, to sign up for a forum online enhanced access. I'd need to look into it because I never promoted it and, thus, nobody has bought it, so I don't even know if its working. But, good idea. I'll look into it.

This might seem a little off topic, but I would definitely purchase a USB flash drive from PCmech

What are you looking for that the standard free membership isn't giving you?

Though I'm a hobbyist rather than a pro, I'd still like to be able to read some of the articles mentioned in "What's new for members?" on the PCMech home page.

I can't justify $13.95 a month, but I would pay $25 or $30 per year.

Just to add my 2 cents, I view these online forums as an information source similar to the olden days when I'd read various magazines to related to a particular hobby or interest. I could be persuaded to pay $15 to $25 per year, but not much more because to me it's the modern alternative to an annual magazine subscription.

Besides that, forums such as pcmech.com allow me to share my knowledge with other members or to help others with their problems. Each member has the opportunity to share or contribute in this way and that is a sort of payment if they consistently post useful information.

Bottom line, I think that most regularly visiting members could be persuaded to pay betrween $15 to $25 annually to receive nothing more than a status on their name/pic that indicates to everyone that they are a paying member.
