game server

I think it would be cool, but probably pretty costly to set up a game server for maybe 1 or 2 games, that members could join to play games with each other. I'm not that in tuned with how personal game servers work, only ever used Bnet for starcraft so i dont know how feasible this really is.

Tiretool had a PC Mech UT and CS server running for a while, not sure if it's still up though.

I think he had problems with his cable connection - not enough bandwidth and too much latency?

Yes, I did build one running Linux, but my cable is limited and upload speed was killing us.

If I had someone who would host it... with a fast connection...

A server. .....j/k

We run on a P4, 512 MB DDR. But, I don't want to run a game server here. Something like this would need to be set up by a member who is willing.

...and who has a good net connection. My origional question was the type of net connection you were running... that is, only if you want to divulge that info.

I have a tribes1 server up, called "calling all freaks", on cable. Holds 10 players. I am working on a tribes2 server, probably called "XL BLAIR XL" when finished. So, if you're into tribes, we do have some coverage. Just not official PCMech...
