search click gives me something i don't want!
hey everyone,
i think i found a problem with one of the banners. when i click on the search button for searching threads (as you can see, i was looking for the all important and technical ninja), it opens up a page that scans my computer for whatever reason. i close it before it gets anywhere, because i don't like the idea of my computer being scanned by an unknown source. does anyone else have this problem?

I've seen a few pics in members' sigs that also do that sort of thing. They list browser, IP and service provider.

No such banner for me. I agree with force flow, it is a window that displays a file on your PC- you are the only person who can see it.
BTW, "i" before "e" except after "c". ![]() L J

homer, that's an ad banner designed to get your attention. It appears it worked!
It is very easy to get your OS, browser, IP, etc when you are on the web. Its not really a security vulnerability, but those untrained in how the net works think it is. |

no, i know how the banner works and whatnot, i posted the pic to show which banner is malfunctioning.
when that one shows, whenever i hit the search button to search the forums, it takes me to the banner site, which is not what i want. |
