PC Mech Site Suggestions

I just thought I'd post some suggestions:
(Admin feel free to move this thread if necessary)

We should have a Hobbies section with things such as paintball, airsoft, card, guns and knives, car audio, photography, go kart racing, painting, drawing and art, etc.

We should have some sort of centralized chat program. I think you may have one for IRC but I'd like to see others.

We should have a more thorough computer security forum, and also a downloads section full of freeware system config utilities and such. Also, we should have a monthly LAN party like the folks at TechTV.
These are just a few of the things I thought of.

Moved to the suggestions forum.

Good ideas, but not really what this place is all about. This is a computer forum. You are free to discuss those topics, as long as they conform to the site FAQ, in the General Discussion forum.

We have discussed this, and for the time being we have decided to use #pcmech on Undernet IRC. We don't want to run a chat server ourselves at this time.

No, what we need is for people to put their security related posts in the existing forum instead of all over the rest of the board. How can we make it any more thorough? It's there, folks, just use it.

Good idea, but we would prefer that such items be downloaded from the proper sources, this isn't Tucows or download.com. Feel free to post links to such items. You also might want to consider buying a PC Mech CD (shameless plug).

Keep them coming - we DO read this stuff.

Hello

Well, I have a suggestion, though I am not sure it's feasible.

Personally, I am getting much more interested in Laptop computers. Specifically, I'd like to buy a used laptop and upgrade it. I have heard that it is very difficult for a non-technician to upgrade Laptops. But after building my own computer, anything seems possible. Or just a section on Laptops: to know what to look for etc, what brands are the best, that type of thing.

Anyway, just a suggestion. If there was a section here on Laptops, I would be reading it.

thanx!
