Cannot install AVG

I have a fresh Windows XP installation on a new hard drive. I downloaded AVG free edition but when I try to run the install program it opens the "unzipping" thing and when that's done it just stops. Nothing else happens. Why won't it install?

the only thing I can think of that would give you that problem is that you downloaded copy got corrupted some how.
do another download and try again.
I have installed it on too many computers so far and never had any problem yet, I have my download saved on a cd that I use to copy to other systems.

I have tried three downloads. The first was the one I used when I installed it on my old hard drive. It was still on my "junk" drive. When that didn't work I downloaded it again. Still the same problem. I tried one more time for good measure and still no go.

EDIT: I got it working. All I had to do was move the setup program to drive C before running it.

Not sure what you mean by the "unzipping" thing. When I download AVG to my desktop it is not in a zipped folder. The icon is the AVG 4 colored square and it's just a setup file. Did you download the free version from www.grisoft.com? That's where I just tried it from. The have a new way of doing it now. Not only do they send the download link to your email, but after the download is complete they send a second email with the install serial number. It's always the same number. You'll need the serial number to start the install.

What I meant by "unzipping" was when I click on the setup icon it comes up with the box where you click setup or close. When you click setup seems to "unzip" some files. It would just close after that. Anyway, it works now that it's on the same drive that Windows is on.
