Reset bios??

When I first got my pc i entered in a password so I could be the only one to get into the setup...I don't remember the password...and can't find where I wrote it down. Any suggestions on what I can do... i don't want to lose any info on my computer...some how reset the bios???? I would appreciate any help

Welcome to PCmech

Some motherboards have a jumper setting just to clear the password and not reset the other BIOS settings, check to see if you have a jumper marked as "CLEAR_PW" or similar on the motherboard, if so this will reset it but leave the BIOS settings intact otherse look for a jumper marked similar to "CLEAR_CMOS" normally near the BIOS battery. Just set that jumper for a minute then change it back. You should be able to get into the BIOS setup now but will have to re-do all your BIOS settings

Thanks so much....I had to check the manuel for the right jumper...but it worked perfectly.....and took no time at all...
