Best Internet Browser?
What does everyone use? And what do u think is the best. Good pop-up blocker, fast, just got all the good stuff...

I use Mozilla Firefox and I consider it to be the best. It is on par with Opera, though; I use Firefox out of personal preference, not necessarily because it is much better than Opera. Both are orders of magnitude better than Internet Exploiter.

Like doctorgonzo said, Mozilla Firefox and Opera are probably the two best alternatives, at least in my opinion. Currently i use opera, because i find it to be faster than Firefox, and the tabbed browsing is more effective. Then again, its not free like Firefox, at least not without ads.
Try them out and see what you like best. Mike |

I love My IE 2 and I consider it the best alternative. It is similar in layout to IE but that's where the similarities end. It has so many useful features and it is very stable. I used Mozilla, Firefox, and Opera for a while but I ended up not liking them. They also slowed down a lot after using them for a while. I have been using My IE 2 for almost three months now and it is as fast and stable as ever. Plus, all the pages I have gone to display correctly in My IE 2. I had too many problems with pages not loading right in Opera and Firefox.

Also, AFAIK, My IE 2 is simply a different front end for the IE browser, so all the security problems associated with IE still exist in that product. |

Definitely try out FireFox. It is immensely better than IE, with the tabbed browsing, download manager, and the other goodies. Also, like doctorgonzo said, it displays things the way they are supposed to be displayed. Most of the time, people use a bunch of hacks for things to display well in IE.

Another vote for Firefox. Mozilla is a good one too. The only time I really use IE is for Windows Updates.

The poor security in IE is a major reason why spyware exists. When I clean spyware off computers where the default browser is IE, it usually finds hundreds of toolbars, hijacked homepages, and the like. Today I cleaned off my computer with Firefox: only a dozen cookies. Security is a major reason why I don't like M$ products.

i use communicator / mozilla / phoenix / firebird / firefox whatever the hell it is now. not because i find it fashionable to avoid microsoft, quite the contrary, it's just that i am old and mosaic isn't around, so i hopped on the netscape bandwagon. i think they had it right with communicator 3, okay with communicator 4, trashed 5, ran 6 into the ground, who knows with 7 or did that even exist?, tried and made the same mistakes with the revamped mozilla after netscape was bought, then finally rewrote much of their work.
it is not the best, however. they are in constant change, so i don't recommend it. their email client is terrible. importing preferences is a nightmare, complicated by the fact they are constantly changing. ironically, it is easy to import from outlook to whatever they call their email client, but it is nearly impossible to import stuff from an earlier version. some options can only be found through editting the configs manually (such as outgoing smtp server, but they finally changed that, and i don't recommend changing anything not in the menues anyway). that said, i think they are finally on a better track if not the right one. i am not sure what the staff looks like anymore, but unfortunately i don't think they can compete with microsoft programmers. as for security, i place blame on the user, not the browser. i can run most any system securely with most any software running. I don't get any spyware. I scan regularly and I don't download just anything. All it takes is some common sense to keep your computer spyware free. I haven't gotten any results in Spybot or Adaware for months. And yes, they are up to date.

Yep. Now all I gotta do is figure out how to permanantly "remove" the spyware that I have. Ad-Aware, and SpyBot, just find them. But I wanna know how to actually REMOVE them so that SpyBot doesn't find them
![]() Here is what SpyBot returns: Advertising.com --- 14 Entries Avenue A, Inc. --- 2 Entries DoubleClick --- 2 Entries DSO Exploit --- 1 Entries ....is there anything that can permanantly remove this spyware? Last edited by JayBee; 06-08-2004 at 10:29 PM. |

After the scan just click "Fix Selected Problems" and Spybot will permanently remove it.

I believe that those are cookies that Spybot picks up, and the reason probably is that you're accepting all cookies. What you may want to do, is to deny all cookies except for sites that you need them for, like these forums, which you can do through Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies.

I prefer mozilla or firefox because it has thunderbird built in.
