Virsu protection?

Hi

Im looking for a Virus prog for a home PC that is regualry updated and if prefreable free.

Any suggestions and links would be greatly appreciated and also any feedback you have as to the quality of the proggie.

AVG is good, and normally recomended round here, get it at http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php

i used 'trnd housecall' when i thought there was a problem, NAV2004 didnt pick up the problem but this did, typical....

I use both MicroTrend online and AVG installed. One checks the other. Once the fix gets out, they all get it. Plus I use Drive Image (a ghosting program) to just restore my computer to some point before the virus!

I agree with the others when it comes to AVG. I've been using it for years. The updates are seamless, they update virus definitions regularly and the program is easier on system resources than some of the other AV programs. It also has an outlook plug-in which scans messages when sending and recieving email. It also runs in the background. I once went to a site that I had visited regularly on dvd easter eggs, and before the page had finished loading, AVG popped up saying that sec.thought.e had been detected in a cookie. It quarantined it immediately and then I ran a full scan to clean it.
