Not showing all programs in Add/Remove Programs

the problem is that as the title suggests only very few programs are showing up in the add/remove programs panel.

i have a long list of 'Norton internet security' that cannont be 'change/remove'ed a few other NAV things and some progs that i installed after the problem occured.

mIRC, MSN and a few other things do have the 'change/remove' button but most dont.
i have two things in the list that im not sure where they came from, they are : 'WebFldrs XP' and 'MSRedist'
i have ran NAV2004, Trend Housecall and Ad-aware and they show nothing.

any help is appreciated i

I always thought that only certain programs that write to a certain area of the system (perhaps the registry??) would actually show up in the "ADD/REMOVE" programs section. Isn't this the case?

Related to this same topic, i've got a program... actually it's a bad TWAIN driver that won't remove itself from my win2k system. It's listed in the ADD/REMOVE hardware list, but when i click to remove it, it shows some error saying all components could not be removed and then it stops. The icon remains although i've deleted everything i could find in the system folders. Isn't all of this related to the registry??

i did have all the prgrams that were installed in the list previously, i installed an app to edit pics for my dads phone and since then its not been right. (this may not be the cause of the problem but i highly suspect it is)
has anyone else had this problem?

Send a message via AIM to MrAustin
What program did you install? I would suspect that it made changes to your system registry that it shouldn't have.
