Outlook Problems
I hope someone can help. I am currently trying to get my previous e-mails and sent items from Outlook 97 on one computer to Outlook 2000 on another computer.
I have tried saving the Archived folder to disc and then importing from the archived folder on the disc to my inbox on the new computer, but it keeps telling me that I am not authorized to do so. Obviously this has something to do with the fact that the profiles are different on each of the machines. Is there any possible way of doing this? |

I believe there are .pst files are your inbox etc, are you copying them accross and trying to import them, or how did you try to transfer them?

Do you ever sleep WTBF? LOL
When eporting (or archiving) it puts them in a .pst file/format. I have copied these files onto a CD and am now trying to import them into my Inbox, but it won't allow me to as it says I do not have the required authorization. |

Are you on the administrator account? If you can't get it to work you can always forward all the emails you need.
Of course I sleep, a bit, its 1:21pm here in the UK, and the last time I spoke to you it was about 10pm. |

If you are not on the admin account then I do not think you do not have the right privliages(sp?) to do this. When you open Outlook does it give you an option to log onto what account you want? Or is there an email account associated with your user profile?

No, no option to log onto an account.

Try logging on as the administrator then open Outlook, then try to change user to your account, i'm not sure you can do this in Outlook, but I know you can do it in Outlook Express so its worth a try.

RVFmal,
Usually when you copy files to a CD-Rom the 'read-only' attribute is assigned to these files. Try saving the PST file onto your computer's hard drive (if you haven't already). Once that's done, right-click on the file and select 'Properties'. The 'Read Only' attribute will be checked. Remove the 'Read Only' attribute and you should be able to import the PST file into Outlook. Good luck! HTH, -LW |
