Is your Computer a Zombie?

Zombie Spam Computers
I recently, last week setup a new email address. I got a short catchy name with only 4 characters. Very short. I immediately began getting what at first I thought was spam.

Keep in mind, I only ever checked it from web form. I noticed a pattern, I had 5 pages of email with in 3 days that I am certain came from Zombie Computers because all of the emails where from many different people, addresses, different ISP's, not just comcast etc. All the messages where the same and all where 18kb in size with an attached Virus.

This Virus does not try to cover it's tracks, as it gives the email address of it's previous victim as well.

That account only ever got checked via a webmail program. I replied to a few, after removing the virus attachment with subject to please scan their computer for virus.

3 people have replied to me with a thank you, they had no idea they had the virus.

I took a test computer on an isolated network(NO INTERNET CONNECTION) and let the virus lose. It appears in the task manager as "Www"

If you check your Task Manager this virus shows up as "Www"

From the emails I got, I believe this virus just spreads by generating email addresses and sends at random.

The Attachment is different on every email I checked.

this is just one virus that can turn your computer into a zombie, Sorry I don't have the exact name of this virus but removal was easy.

I ended task on Www, then was able to delete the file I run on the test computer. After I did that and emptied the recycle bin a virus scan was clean.

Keep in mind, i never let it get to the internet or gave the test computer a reboot. Perhaps Had I done either of those it would have embedded deeper in.

But at the very least you might want to check your Task Manager and see if you have a Www running.
