Were there any errors during the install?

Can you connect to the internet normally?

Do you have firewall installed on your machine that could be blocking the NAV live Updater?

Norton AV 2004 is know to be problematic with winXP.

However, do check what TheJackal suggested before attributing this to one of these odd quirks.

You'd think the people that made NAV2004 would figure most PC would be running the XP operating system and it should by all accounts work alot better then it does now

Thanks Everyone for trying to help me solve this problem.. I ended up installing my friends McAfee, & did yet ANOTHER scan..system wouldn't let me scan with Norton.. had to scan a little @ a time, then crash, start next from where I left off & so on.. there were 14 WORMS'.. Sasser,Bobax & Gaobot, can you imagine!! this likely happened over time, as I was having a heck of a time getting Norton to work.. because of the Virus' in there I guess.. something was stopping it from detecting it.. Any way, Noton 2004, after BLOOD< SWEAT< & TEARS, is working again.. Thanks again..Ellie

Well, McAffee isn't much better. You might be better off just installing AVG. Free download.
