In the previous version (InCD3), I believe you press the Ctrl key while double-clicking the tray icon and the program would close. Does anyone know how to get InCD4 to close from the tray? Thx,

Hehe, that would make the most sense, eh? Right click reveals a menu with three choices: About, Help, and Options. None of them have a route to close the program, tho. I've an email into Nero Tech support, as they had to tell me how to close out InCD3. It took several days for them to get back to me last time...

6. InCD 3.xx: prevent from launching upon boot up, but without uninstalling it
This applies to InCD 3.x versions only. Simply right-click on the InCD Icon in the Systray, which is located in the bottom right of your window. If you only have one Recorder, select Properties. If you have more than one Recorder, select the drive letter for the recorder you wish to disable this feature for. The 'InCD Property Sheet' window opens up. Click on the 'InCD Page Settings' tab. In this window, disable the option for 'Do not display start-up and RW mount messages' Do this for each drive letter you wish to disable this feature for. And then reboot your system. Now InCD will only launch when you manually double click on the InCD Icon located in the Systray. 7. This applies to InCD 3.x versions only. Press and hold the ‘Ctrl’ Key, and double-click on the InCD Icon in the systray located in the bottom right of your desktop window. 2.) Press 'Ctrl+ Alt + Del' and open the 'Task Manager'. Change to the 'Processes' tab and select InCD.exe. Now click on ‘End Process’. |

I've been using the End Process routine for lack of a better method. The ver. 3 trick with the Ctrl key doesn't work. Maybe Nero tech will get back with me someday...

I had trouble with INcd which was installed with Nero (I have since learned not to select it for install) I removed it from the start-up menu.
Select Start, Run and type-in: msconfig selct the "startup" tab and uncheck the box for INcd. This applies to the version of Nero sold with CD burners. I don't know if it works with the full-blown version Be careful using msconfig if you are not familiar with it. You can easily remove items for executing certain functions necessary to the operating system. -Kev |

I like InCD as a program. It's great for drag and drop burning of RW media. I have it set to load at startup, but it's just that Nero ROM won't burn to a drive that InCD has already captured. So, it's useful to be able to turn off InCD easily when it becomes necessary to burn via the Nero interface. I just don't know why they got rid of the Ctrl key trick that was used with version 3...

That is strange. InCD is not supposed to lock a drive with an empty CD. It is only supposed to lock a drive when you insert a formatted CD. And if I remember right it actually worked that way.
So when you insert any kind of blank, InCD locks the drive ? RJ

RJ, I think you hit on what was happening. I was trying to use some old RW discs that I had recorded with InCD but then later erased. Then, Nero must have been picking up on the format of the empty, old disc when I was trying to use it. Other than turning off InCD, tho, I don't know how to get around that.

Just use InCD to erase the CD. Now by erasing I don't mean formatting. I mean erasing the CD, remove the formatting. Once done, it will be empty again, with no file system on it, and InCD won't lock the drive.
I currently don't have InCD installed, but I think the option is only available in the context menu of the drive. So insert the formatted CD-RW into your burner, then InCD will lock the drive. Open Windows Explorer, right click on the drive, and then look for the menu item to erase the CD. After removing the format entries, InCD will release the drive. I must have misunderstood the first post here.
It looks like I'm running a different version of Nero. On mine ther InCD program is only for making labels and printing images. The burn programs are entirely seperate. -Kev |
