Not sure what 156Mb applies to, the hard drive, amount of RAM, processor speed. I assume that it is the hard drive but that makes no sense since a computer with a P3 processor should have a larger HD. What is the model no.? What operating system are running? Can you use sentences?

It probably has two sticks of ram: 128MB + 32MB = 160MB and then 4MB are used for the onboard video. If I were in this situation I just wipe the entire drive and reload an OS of your preference without using a compaq restore CD. I say this because I own a Compaq 1200 XL-106 with the same amount of ram you have and once I reloaded my own copy of 98 it ran much smoother. PC manufactures bloat the OS with so many of thier utilities and then again it's probably at least 3 years old and needs a good cleaning.
