is there a way that i can get my wmp to play all files including rm's?

Yup. There should be a file checklist located in your media player somewhere. I beleive you go to Tools>Options>File Types tab, then you should see a checklist of files that your player is capable of playing. Just put a tick in the checkbox of whatever file(s) you want it to play.
EDIT: Is that file you specified a RealMedia player file?

From what I know rm's are proprietry, I don't think WMP can play those, Realplayer only.

Media Player Classic does play RM files, but not Media Player.
That's why RealAlternative and Quicktime Alternative come with Media Player Classic. RJ
