Gnu Grub ?!?!
Heres how it is:
I have a C: drive with windows XP on it and a H: with Linux on it. I wanted to install a different version of linux so I used the MaxBlast cd that came with the harddrive to formant and create a new NTFS partition on the H: drive. So now I have windows xp on the C: drive and a clean NTFS partition on the H: drive. Heres how it went down: So now when I boot up my computer it goes to what looks like a dos prompt but it says " GNU GRUB version 0.94 [Minnimal Bash-Like line editing is supported] " at the top of the screen. Then below that it gives a prompt that looks like this " GRUB> _ " What Ive tried: I tried going into bios and making sure the C: drive was first in the boot sequence and taking the H: drive out of the boot sequence. I also tried inserting the Windows XP disc to boot from it, didnt work. I then tried repairing windows from the disk, which still booted me to the grub> prompt. I looked up this GNU GRUB and found that is a boot tool for booting multiple OS's. But I cant find what command to enter to get it to boot to windows.

I think I might have found some commands to get it to load windows but is there anyway to get rid of this GNU GRUB?

I think the command fdisk /mbr... to change the master boot record. But if you remove it, you might not be able to boot into Linux.

Boot from your Windows XP CD, select to use the recovery console, and run the command:
Code:
fixmbr |

alright thanks, ill give it a try. If that fails what would happen if I just reinstalled Linux? Would it go back to the menu that let me choose between Linux and windows?

Distro installers usually let you specify whether you want to install Grub or not, and there you can change the menu items, so yes, if you reinstall Linux, you can get that menu back.
