Cool photo organization

If you moderators think that there is a better spot for this thread, feel free to move it. I just didn't see a perfect spot for it.

At this point, my collection of digital photos is up to a count of 4,115 individual pictues, and that number is growing all the time. I would like to find some better way of organizing them besides sorting them into different files and folders. While this process works, it is cumbersome. Is there some kind of database that works for photos? Thanks for any ideas.

This is my favorite download site. Havenn't used any of the sample list below.....

Disk Cataloging

http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/system/fwdiskcat.html

Visual CD is a disk cataloging tool to index data CDs, floppy disks, hard drives and even folders. Once indexed, you can explore the CD catalogs, search files and folders without having the physical disk in the drive. A built-in favorites manager allows you to easily manage multiple catalogs, and a powerful search feature lets you search across multiple catalogs. The program comes with several additional options, you can split files into smaller pieces, extract ZIP, RAR and CAB archives, rename files, copy the entire CD to a new location and more. Visual CD provides a clean and attractive interface and optional Explorer integration from the right click menu.

File Management

http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/sy...anagement.html

Directory Lister lets you list all the files you have in selected directories on your hard disk, cd-rom, floppy etc. You can select individual directories and then save the list as text or HTML file. You can customize the report output in many aspects, include or exclude details, specify sorting, background color and more.

freeCommander is a dual-panel file explorer with many additional features. In addition to the standard file management features, it can be used to compare directories, display folder sizes, synchronize folders and more. The program can also open/create ZIp and CAB files, and open RAR files, as well as search inside those archives. You can set view filters, create folder list (for printing), change file attributes, launch a command prompt, take a desktop screenshot and more.

Adobe Photoshop Album is supposed to be good for that. I think there is a fully functional trial of it too.

Adobe Elements 2.0 has an option to make a photo album/gallery in a webpage format, but I'm not sure if that's what you really want. You can see how to do it here:
