Cool Which back-up program should I use.

Is there any disadvantage in running the Windows XP restore feature and Norton's go back at the same time? If you had to choose one or the other, which one would you choose? I am not referring to ghosting images, just a primary back-up. I will also do another form of back-up, but I want to have a primary line of defense.

XP's system restore merely saves system settings, not data. Go Back does basically the same thing, however, I'm not sure how it exactly handles data.

Your best bet is to physically back up your data on another form of media (be it CD-R's, DVD-R's or a seperate HDD altogether).

Take a look here:http://www.pcmech.com/show/harddrive/664/10/

XP's system restore sucks....one time I ran Adaware, and i deleted a registry file crucial for Internet Explorer to run, so I tried the restore, and nothing happened. I had to reinstall the OS. And reinstalling something that takes 4 hours wiht updates is annoying. Do what Force Flow said.

IMHO....The MS restore function is a resource hog, a host target for virus activity and a huge waste of time. I shut mine off a long time ago. I do however back up my working data weekly at home via cd and daily at work via tape drive networked through my main server.
