no cd's please
I know there is probably something on this site pertaining to this but I don't have a lot of time to search for it. I need some software to play my games without the cd's. I know there is virtual cd but that costs money. Are there any free ones?

http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=103472 - just a bit farther down the page.
I like No-CD patches myself. But you may not necessarily be able to find one for all games. Especially if the game is older. |

I mainly use no cd patches when I have lost my cd or can't be bothered to go and look for them.
I have never not found a no cd patch at www.megagames.com they are very good for trainers for games and no-cd patches |

Site
It's a bit annoying to play 5 different games and always changing CDs.
http://www.gamecopyworld.com/ (this is not advocating gamecopying, it's for no-cd patches)

I have tried a couple drive emulators before, but I can't seem to get any to work right.
they'll act like the cd is in there just fine, but when I go to play the game i get the message to insert the cd. |

Never had a problem playing with a No-CD patch. Never used a virtual drive/CD, so I can't help you there.
One thing that you have to watch out for, is when there's a patch or update for a game, and you install it, often times you have to get an updated version of the No-CD patch for it to work properly. |

No CD patches/drive emulator can sometimes work better than using the CD as copy protection has been known to cause problems.
