possible virus?
Ok, got a call, customer complained that internet(dial-up) stopped working. When trying to dial in, it does everything normal, and says it is connected, but IE, outlook, internet answering machine, pretty much all internet apps dont see the connection. I get the computer, try to ping my server thru dos, and it works
But IE, etc etc still dont work. Ran ad-aware, didnt pick up anything(they run it often thankfully). Ran AVG, didnt seem to pick up anything.any ideas? thanks ^dan |

Try running Spybot Search and Destroy aswell. Have you tried virus scanning while in safemode also?

update:
While i thought i updated AVG, and it said it did, it actually didnt(virus...?). So i ended up pulling the HD and sticking it into my bench machine. Ran AVG, picked up one trojan, removed it. Ran housecall, didnt pick up anything.** Ran ad-aware/spybot, picked up a few things, removed those. Get it all put back together, boot it up, connect to the internet, IE/outlook/AIM/...etc etc still doesnt work... I can still ping servers/websites thru DOS. I even tried installing mozilla firefox, but that wont pull up anything either... I am at a complete loss as to what could be causing this!!!?!?!?! **Now that I think of it, why would it let me open up sites etc when it was slaved to another drive?? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks again ^dan |
