FREE dvd decoder?
I was trying to watch an instructional dvd on my dvd player, but WMP popped up an error saying that I needed a dvd decoder before I could watch it. I know their available, but, can you download it somewhere for FREE?

No. DVD uses MPEG-2, and MPEG-2 ain't free, so there can't be any free legal DVD decoders. Well, you sure can get decoders with some kind of watermark, but a completely free MPEG-2 decoder without watermarks or evaluation period is not legal.
Don't be stingy. . you can get excellent software like PowerDVD XP for a couple bucks (I think something like 5 or 6). RJ

Ok...I opened the wallet and bought InterVideo DVD. Now, the dvd player works, but the video is a little jerky and flickers. I checked the troubleshooting and found that I need dma enabled. I don't see it and that option is not available in the device manager, properties option under settings. My board is an ABIT KV-7. Now what should I do?

The DMA option is in device manager. So go to device manager, then IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller, and double click on the channel (either primary or secondary) where the DVD-ROM drive is connected to. Then click on the advanced settings tab, and there you can set the transfer mode to DMA.
