Help with installation on new HD

Hi!

My brand new IBM Hard Drive complete with Windows XP Home arrived in the post yesterday, the OS is an OEM version so no help booklet! I want to install the new HD and then install my new OS, I can't forsee any problems putting my HD in but I've never installed an OS on a clean HD before and I don't really know what commands to use. I should image it is initially dos based, with something like cd d:/ , d:/setup but i'm not too sure!

I would appreciate it if someone could give me a little step by step guide or something, cheers!

Matt

Once you have the HD physically installed in the case and it is configured properly, go into your BIOS, make sure it is recognized, and set the boot order to your CDROM first. Then pop in the XP CD, and exit and save the changes.

Then your computer will start the setup. You just need to partition and format the drives, and then install the OS, and you're good to go. You don't need to use an DOS commands or anything.

Yes, you should use NTFS.
