WS_ftp pro backup options...
Is there a way to backup all of your host connections in ws_ftp pro(v. 8)? I am going to format soon, and i have about 20 hosts, and it would make it a lot easier to just be able to back those up. not to mention i dont remember the passwords to half of them.
thanks ^dan |

Question/Problem: How can I backup my copy of WS_FTP?
Answer/Solution: In order to back up WS_FTP, you need to save two things: 1 - the installation program 2 - your ftp sites If you have a CD copy of the program, you don't need anything else to reinstall the program. If you no longer have the file you downloaded when you purchased, and/or you can't burn the install program to a CD, please call Customer Service at 781-676-5700 for information regarding purchasing a CD copy of the program. (The cost will be the difference in price between the ecommerce version and the CD version plus shipping and handling.) The files which contain your ftp sites are the files in the WS_FTP directory which have an .ini extension (i.e. original.ini). These files can be backed up onto CD if you have a CD burner. You can also backup to a zip drive if you have enough space. Once you have a copy of the installation program and a copy of all of your .ini files, that is all you need as a backup of the WS_FTP Program. Question/Problem: How do I backup WS_FTP Server? Answer/Solution: Most of WS_FTP Server's configuration settings are in the registry. Run regedit. Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Ipswitch Select the iftpSvc key and Export to a file under the Registry menu. This saves most of the system configuration settings and all user information. You should also make a backup copy of the WS_FTP Server directory and the Security directory. Your custom Messages are stored in the $banner.txt, $goodbye.txt and $welcome.txt files. Control Access is stored in the domain.acc file (replace "domain" with your FTP Server domain name). The foldername.acc files located in the Security directory contain the permissions that you have assigned to your folders. You should also make a backup copy of the WS_FTP Server directory tree (from Windows Explorer). http://jabba.ipswitch.com/query.html...and+ws_ftp+pro |
