outlook 2000 won't export
I want to export my contacts from my W2K desktop to my W2K laptop with Outlook 2000 but Outlook will not allow for exporting, saying that a feature is not installed for the import/export engine. It asks for the CD Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional. I put in Disc 1 but it does not say anything about SR-1. I get the folloowing message:
"The file Microsoft Office 2000 Professinal is not a valid installation package for the product Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional. Try to find the installation package 'DATA1.MSI' in a folder from which you can install Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional. Since I have a used computer, the Office 2000 Pro disc I have was NOT used to install Office into this machine. So, I thought of removing Office 2000 and reinstalling it with the good disc I have. But, I do not want to lose my Outlook folders and their messages, and, I cannot locate where these files are to copy them for later use. I would consider any other freeware mail program that will allow me to somehow take my folders and import them. Any suggestions welcomed. I am trying to gradually get a divorce from MS. Mozilla Firefox was first... Al

You could, in theory, use Thuderbird to import them, then export them into Thunderbird on the laptop. That is if you want to get away from Outhouse though.

Thunderbird, huh? I will have a look. But, unless it knows how to go in and get my files from Outhouse, I still do not know how to get these existing files.
