Ok, I bought this game so I could play it. Not so I could watch it crash to the desktop every single time I attempt to play a single player game. I have now reinstalled the game about 5 times and I have the newest video card drivers. Witin 20 seconds after starting a single player game the sound will start skipping in a repeating loop and after about 5 seconds the desktop will show up and everything is super bright untill I restart the computer. I had a thread in the Gaming forum a while back but only one person replied and it got nowhere. The multiplayer portion of the game works fine. I am so frustrated and no one seems to know why this game refuses to run on this computer. ANY ideas are welcome.

Well I seem to have fixed it. I decided to mess around with the settings and see if I could make a difference. I changed the sound mode from EAX 3 to EAX 2 and it seems to work fine now. Now I want to know what the difference is between EAX 2 and 3. I hear no difference between the two. All I know is that one works and one doesn't. It has always been and still is set to EAX 3 in the multiplayer portion and it has never had a problem.

EAX is an enviromental sound filter developed by Creative that can be used in some games. 4 is the latest version out but is only supported in a couple of games as yet.
The reason you had to switch was that certain Audigy cards can only decode certain EAX versions. Since you have the original Audigy, it can only decode 1 and 2. Only the new Audigy 2 and ZS support EAX 3 and 4 respectively.
