See here: http://toastytech.com/guis/bob2.html and http://tinyurl.com/hrh

Basically, it was a product that was supposed to make your PC more user friendly. It failed big time.

That software looked nice to me. A shame that M$ killed it with its stupid overpricing policy.

has no one else noticed..

the assistant in MS Bob lives on (in graphically superior, yet identical form) ..as the windows XP search assistant i guess the old MS employees really wanted to get rover into the mainstream while they still could (or they were too old, lazy and uncreative to think of anything new- not that i'm complaining cuz i dig rover)

i also had PB navigator theres a small screenshot at www.computerhope.com/software/pbnav.htm along with instructions on how to remove it.. i saw they had a version of it not that long ago on a PC in store.

screenshot of the rover new and old attached

i hated the packard bell navigator... i was so proud of myself when i figured out how to stop it from loading on startup.

Thats awesome. I was thinking about dual booting Linux, but BOB sounds like a much better option....

Bob was a shell intended to run over Windows as competition for Norton Navigator that had succeeded Norton Desktop for w3.0/3.1. Bob died, as it should have, and Norton Navigator was upgraded to run on W95c (OEM issue) and W98 and W98SE. Improvements stopped with the W2K offering. It was and is a great program. A Swiss army knife and I still use it on my secondary boot W98SE SP1.
