Ventrilo Problems..

Hey all...

I'm trying to set up a Ventrilo server... So me and my friends can talk while playing Day of Defeat.. Counter-Strike.. etc etc...

Now I downloaded what I needed to start a server off of the website... I started a server up.. Now one problem...

I dont know how to get my IP addy that they can type it to connect to the server... Could someone tell me how to get it? Additionally, Im behind a D-Link router... Would I need to open a port? And what port would that be?

thanks a lot!

if it's your own server, shouldn't it be your own IP? you can check what your own IP address is by going to www.ventrilo.com, and then clicking the My IP link at the left. here's a direct link: http://www.ventrilo.com/myip.php

Well I gave him the IP of the ventrilo site... still couldnt connect... Although he could connect to other peoples ventrilo servers...

Im still thinking his trouble connecting to mine has something to do with my router

You need to port forward any port that you will be using to run the server since you are behind a router. The default port for ventrilo is 3784, but i think you can specify any other port that you want to use. So, if you are using port 3784 to run your server, then forward 3784 to your computer from your router.
