Acronis True Image

Does anyone know what real improvement(s) has(have) been made in Acronis True Image version 8 that would make an upgrade from version 7 worthwhile?

The description on the Acronis site of the version doesn't give any feature that cannot be found in version 7.

I posted a request for info on the difference in functionality of versions 7 and 8 of Acronis True Image. I am currently using version 7. I arrived at it after years with PowerQuest Drive Image and all versions of Ghost. I wish I had found it first. However, I neglected to give a review of the product and the reason for my request.

Acronis True image is and has been the best drive image software on the market. It is superior to Symantec (PowerQuest) Drive Image 6 (2002) in that it creates a drive or partition image without the need to drop out to a DOS (Drive Image uses Caldera DOS) environment. It is fast and has the best compression at no significant sacrifice of speed. Ghost is not even a close competitor and Symantec's Drive Image 7 carries the burden of Microsoft's .NET. To the best of my knowledge, Microsoft has not produced any App .NET based.

I would appreciate hearing anyone's experience with Acronis True Image 8. I am interested in the value of the upgrade.

I didn't know version 8 had come out already. I bought version 6 in Nov 03 and have been perfectly happy with it. since i like to tinker with system settings it have saved my curious butt more than once. let me ask this: what can't you do with version 7 that you think version 8 will let you do?

Version 7 and, I presume, version 6 in early builds could not make a recovery CD with a functioning mouse. This was corrected after I pointed it out to Mr. Gromov. I was initailly supplied with an iso image of the bootable disk as a patch and build 627 incorporated the change(s).
