Adaware question

Is there a way to upgrade adaware and spyware in a pc that is not connected to the internet? I have a pc that is not connected to the internet but both adaware and spybot detected spyware into it.

You could download the installation exe of both programs and burn them to a CD (if you have a CD Burner). then pop the CD into the pc you want to upgrade and run the exe's from there.

when they have a new reference file, do they include it into the installation .exe?

No, they only update the reference file in the installer when they have a new version of the program. In any case here are some links directly to the reference files :

Adaware

Spybot S&D

Be aware that this definition file will only work with Ad-Aware's new SE Personal Edition.
The above url also has links to download Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition.

Spyware comes in all sorts of variants . You dont have to be on the net to get them. Could be game programs or utilities that have them bundled in .

Spyware is often very poorly written, and does dangerous (and sometimes undocumented) things to hook itself deep in the system. It can mess up just about any aspect of your pc, going from crashing Internet Explorer, over disabling your internet connection to even making Windows XP refuse to boot. There was a news story a few weeks back about how three out of five pc's tested refused to boot after loading SP2. But this wasn't 100% SP2's fault, since the troublemaker on all three pc's was a piece of spyware that was hooked so deep, SP2's new security measures conflicted with it so hard that you couldn't boot anymore. Instead of a condemnation of SP's 'stability', it was more an indication of how far spyware is spread these days. Oh, and another piece of spyware can totally disable your ability to login into Windows. The list goes on and on. On top of everything, every piece of spyware takes up memory and cpu time that could be used somewhere else. SPyware accumulates over time until your pc takes 20 minutes to boot and seems like it's only half the speed in comparison to when you bought it.

The login/logout loop is fixable, and I've only see two instances of it on the boards, and two in the shop. Not too common.

It only occurs with a very specific piece of spyware when spybot is used to remove it.

Yes but I was looking for spectacular examples of spyware messing up a pc, and I DID mention "a particular piece", not ALL spyware
