I currently am running Windows 98 on my PC and I am going to get SBC DSL service soon and then network it to another PC(That will be another question later on) Ok, I want to upgrade my OS to 2000. Should I - a. Just do an upgrade with the CD. or would it be better(because I dont really need to save anything right now) just to use FDISK to completely wipe my hard drive and then partition it with Win2K. Then set up my DSL service. Does that sound good to does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do. Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!

I think just about everybody here will agree that a clean install, from scratch is much, much better than an upgrade.

Welcome to PCMech!
![]() Im my opinion, its more efficient to wipe the hdd clean and install W2K. If backups arent a concern then you can go ahead and do that. But you can still do an upgrade if you really want. HTH, CN

Even though I upgraded from Win98 to 2000 and it went a lot better than I expected, I would concur with the others who have recommended a clean install.
I'm planning on upgrading to XP Pro in the near future and I plan to format my HD and do a clean install... HTH, -LW And a second 'Welcome to PCMech!'
