i need a driver for usb controller

can someone point me in the direction as to where i can download a driver for usb controller, for windows xp pro?

that would be in the service pack 1 or service pack 2, I know of no other source.

Motherboard drivers. It's the CD that comes with the MOBO.

The only source for USB 2.0 drivers for Windows XP is either SP1 or SP2. You will have to load either to get it. If you do have them loaded, take a look at the PORT drivers. USB 2.0 is 5.1.2600.xxxx

ok SP1 is installed and i still dont have the driver, the cd that came with my mobo said to get the driver from SP1............

oops never mind, its an addon update to sp1, i thought it was included in the SP1 update

don't forget that you need to install it too, its not automaticaly installed.

ok........what the hell.......

the driver was installed.....divice manager showed the usb controller was working, i restarted my computer, and im right back where i started, now it says driver was not installed, show i made it search for the driver as i did before, this time it cant find the driver........i went back to windows updates, and the update that had that driver isnt showing up........

I had an Abit motherboard and had the same problem, so I just didn't install any drivers and all my usb ports work fine. But if worse comes to worse you could reinstall the os.

well, thats not going to help me much because im having this problem because i reinstalled windows xp........also why i had to download SP1......

Try going to the manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers. I had an Abit board a year or two ago that wouldn't take the USB controller drivers included on the motherboard CD, but the updated one off the website worked fine.
