PC Pitstop AutoFix
hey guys, my connection is incredibly slow and horrible, just did a pc pitstop test, its set for 1500/128 (wat the isp says) and i got 754/108.
so it recommended Autofix for me, heres a link http://www.pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/A...e=IntSpeed.hta and if that wont work, i uploaded it onto my site, here it is http://lilfeatha.sitesled.com/IntSpeed.hta so i loaded that up, and what do u guys think ? should i apply all those changes to every PC on my network ? i only want it on this PC and the other one i have, not my dads laptop (to not mess anything up there) will it speed things up on these PC's and not the laptop or how does it work ? is there any danger involved ? i tried clicking one of them but norton antivirus popped up and stopped the script from running. i really wanna speed my connection up so i thought i should apply all those to this PC and the other one, wadda u think ? 10x, and im off to bed now (2:20am) so ill check the responses tomorrow. i also would like to mention that i did alot of speedtests on this site:
http://speedtest.fresh.co.il which is a server in israel, and i got 461kbps (out of 1500kbps that i should get) an hour ago, and i remember a few days ago when i felt like the connection was extremely slow, it came up with 76kbps... almost like a 56k modem, the connection is ADSL 1.5mbit. my upload is pretty nice compared to what the israeli connection offers... so its mainly the download thats hurting me badly (i cant use the computer in my specs yet, which, if u guys say its ok, i will apply the autofix aswell, once ill have room in the house) and then ill game, but i wont really be able to, because my ping will be extremely high.. ERR.. will a movement to a different ISP help ? what if its really close to home ? its about 10 minute ride from here, maybe thatll make a difference... although this is ADSL and not cable so im not sure.. any ideas and such will be very helpful, plz answer to all of my questions in this reply and in the main post above, i know its alot of them but this is really annoying and frustrating! good night, 10x, KoMoDo |

I use a program called TCP/IP optimizer that I got from speedguide.net. You download the file, run it once to optimize your connection, restart the computer and you're done. I noticed a pretty good increase in speed after running that. The site I use to check my bandwidth is at www.numion.com . It gives you and estimate of your actual 'surfing' speed and also has a 'max speed' test that will tell you how accurate your downloads/uploads are and the ping rate.

When I went to that site you mentioned in your post, I tried it a couple different times. Last night around 7:30 or so I got 1000 kbps and this afternoon I was in the 1333 range. I know the difference in my rates is due to bandwidth since I have a cable modem. I'm not sure about the ADSL thing. I'm not sure how much that would affect your rates. Usually, at least here in the states, you need to be within 5 miles of the hub. Hopefully someone who knows more about ADSL will reply to your post.
As for running the speedup from PCPitstop, I ran that and had no problems with my other computer. Scomac |

well ya, i guess ill try it and see if itll improve, i just feel like this is a toy, like a 56k modem, compared to what i had in ann arbor and NY (3mbit download (once got 6 downloads, each was 600kb/s) and one was 30k/s in ann arbor, and the other 80k/s in NY... and its just so crap here! as i said, it once got 74kbps, so thats real close to 56k modem, im just so sad :-P my pings are going to be HORRIBLE and i wont be able to play any mp games, horrible...
