Installing Studio MX on New OS
I have bought Studio MX Educational Version for my PC, I have installed it and registered it, but now I want to do a complete reinstallation of my OS on my computer. If I reinstall the Operating System (XP) will I have to buy a new registration code/serial number for my software since I have already registered it? I don't want to spend any more money, what can I do. I also want to put Studio MX Educational Version on my laptop can I use the same serial number on everything? Thanks for any suggestions

If you're upgrading the operating system, I think you can preserve the program that was originally installed for the older OS.

As kram said, upgrading does not remove software. Even if you are doing a complete reinstall, the keys that came with the Studio MX software can be used again.
Edit: As for your laptop, I'm not sure. You'd have to check your license as they do vary by vendor. |

Only if you UPGRADE the OS. Reinstalling is completely wiping the HDD and starting over, so you would naturally lose all data.

Macromedia's licence allows you to install on a laptop as well as part of the licence, under the condition that only you use both systems (meaning that only one will be in use at any one time).
Macromedia is also pretty sticky about activation (they took a page out of the MS book on that) so you may have to call in to activate again. I have not had to reinstall Studio yet. AJ |

Thanks for all of the replies, I called macromedia customer service they said I can uninstall studio mx on my desktop, reinstallt the os and then install studio again, and then install it on my laptop it should work, because I can have two install's at the same time. I'll tell you how it ends up.
