Long Load times, Fast computer?
I bought Far Cry and DOom III. My computer is alright for gaming as you can see in my signature... but loading to get into the game.. takes a longggg time.. then when you get into the game, you have to load the level.
Is it normal to get a long load time before it gets into the game? |

RAM and HDD are the biggest factors in loading times, I *think*. What are the specs on your HDD? 2mb cache, 8mb? 7200rpm? A fast HDD with a large cache makes a big difference when loading up games.

Make sure you hit esc when the id movie comes up. Scan for adware/malware/spyware, defrag your hard drive and close down unnecessary programs when playing the game. And make sure dma mode is enabled on you hard drive. Last edited by Heon2574; 09-04-2004 at 09:08 AM. |
