eBay

Any good/horror stories available for moderating a decision to obtain a copy of Windows XP (sealed, un-used license, etc., etc.) from the Grand Benevolent Market eBay?

If it's sealed and the license is unused, that's perfectly legal. Members, please do not take these matters into your own hands, vigilanteism is frowned upon in these forums just as much as piracy matters. Not only that, the FAQ link is now only the vB FAQ - the rules are a different link.

glc is exactly right. I do a lot of business of eBay and you really need to make sure you know what you are buying.

If you find a copy of a sealed Win XP then make sure to contact the seller first. You should really try to get good communication going with the seller first on items like those. Computer software, hardware, DVD's and etc can really be fudged sometimes. There are plenty of people who show a pic and then take your money on items like that.

All I am saying is for you to be careful. Make contact first with seller then bid or buy. Hope everything works out ok!!! Good luck.

If a person with a low feedback number is selling it I would be very cautious of buying something like that.

That's a good thought that hadn't occured to me...thanks.

Ya know, now that I look at the whole issue (if I've got my numbers right), the difference between grabbing a copy from eBay (with risks) and getting a copy from [maybe] MS is probably less than the price of a night at Oriole Park. Might just go for the comfort zone. Anyhoo, thanks for the help, y'all.
