Is there a way to put a password on any folder and/or shortcut?

Ok when I right-click and go into the properties window I don't see the advanced button next to the Read-Only and other attributes boxes.

Sounds like your using FAT32 for your filesystem and not NTFS, encryption will only work on NTFS. You will need to convert the filesystem to NTFS.

http://aumha.org/win5/a/ntfscvt.php outlines the process. Once you convert to NTFS, you can set a password security by going to the properties of the folder and adding or denying access to the folder. If you have any further issues, please post back.
